Caring for your fencing gear: how to make it last

Fencing gear, whether new or second-hand, is a significant investment. Regular care is essential to its durability, its safety and how well it performs. Here is our practical advice for extending the life of your equipment and fencing with peace of mind.

Caring for your kit (jacket, breeches, plastron)

🧽 Washing:

• Machine wash at a low temperature (30°C maximum), without a harsh spin (1000 rpm maximum)
• Use a mild detergent, with no bleach and no fabric softener.
• Close velcro fastenings and zips before washing so they do not damage the fabric.

⛔ Avoid:

• Tumble drying, which can damage synthetic fibres.
• Ironing, unless the label says otherwise.

Looking after your mask

✅ After every session:

• Air the bib well to prevent odours.

🧽 Washing :

• Check the mesh for any deformation or crack.
• Clean the bib by hand with warm soapy water.
